The Ephrata Police Department says speed was a factor in a three-vehicle crash in Lancaster County on Wednesday.

Nineteen-year-old Gage Weaver died in the crash.

Around 4:55 p.m., the Ephrata Police Department was dispatched to a crash in Ephrata Township in the 200 block of Martindale Road between Newswanger Road and the Ephrata Township line.

Police said that Weaver, 19, lost control of his Ford Mustang and slid into the westbound lane, where he struck a Ford Econoline Van. A man driving a Honda CRV was traveling westbound behind the van and was unable to stop, colliding with the van, police said.

Weaver was pronounced dead while in the driver’s seat of his vehicle at around 6:24 p.m., according to the Lancaster County coroner’s office. Weaver died of multiple blunt force trauma. T
