After a week off the LPGA has returned for the Standard Portland Classic, an event that’s been played on the tour since 1972, most of that time at Columbia Edgewater Country Club, the host again this year.
The field is playing for a $2 million purse with the winner taking home $300,000 for a victory. Moriya Jutanugarn is the defending champion.
The season still has been bizarre in that there hasn’t been a repeat winner all year on tour, the longest stretch in history without that happening. Seven of the 21 different winners this year are in action in Portland, including Grace Kim and Angel Yin.
There are seven past Portland champions competing including Jutanugarn, Stacy Lewis (2017), Brooke Henderson (2015, 2016) and Juli Inkster (1999). Yes, Inkster is playing on one of the tournament
