A correctional officer in Walker County was arrested Thursday over allegations of "improper contact" with an inmate.

Johnathan Edwards faces charges of custodial sexual misconduct involving a relationship with a female inmate, according to Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith.

Smith received the allegations on Monday and immediately removed Edwards from service. He was fired the following day.
