The show will go on for Portland Center Stage, at least for the upcoming season.
After announcing in May that it would need to raise $2.5 million by the end of August, the company now says it has reached and even exceeded that goal, several weeks ahead of schedule.
As of Thursday, the company had raised $3.6 million, including $1.5 million from the state .
“The next benchmark is Dec. 31 with a total goal of $4.5 million of the $9 million,” director of development Edwina Kane said Thursday.
The company hopes to raise $9 million by June 2026.
“We still have a long way to go,” Kane said, “and this is an exciting moment to celebrate.”
