OVID, N.Y. (WROC) — The Ovid community will hold a memorial walk on Thursday in hopes of reviving a 40-year-old cold case.

40 years ago, on August 14, 1985, 20-year-old Kristin O'Connell of Burnsville, Minnesota, visited a friend in Ovid, New York. She left her friends to go for a short walk, but never returned. Two days later, Kristin's body was found in a field off West Seneca Street.

“She was someone's sister and friend. All of those people deserve answers," the memorial walk's co-organizer, Heather Caward, said. "To know someone took your child from you and that person is still out there roaming and not facing any consequences for this. I can't imagine what that feels like for her families and friends."
