A Massachusetts man died after a bystander pulled him from a New Hampshire lake on Thursday morning, police said.

Jack Bilodeau, 81, is believed to have had a medical issue while swimming after his boat, adrift on Lake Winnisquam in Tilton, at about 11:35 a.m., according to state police.

The Westford resident briefly went underwater, then was pulled out by a good Samaritan, police said, who tried reviving Bilodeau along Route 3 until first responders came.

Bilodeau was rushed to a Laconia hospital and pronounced dead, police said.
