STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A father and son put up safety equipment at the Birdseye Boat Dock in Stratford after a 6-year-old boy drowned there last week.

Community members in Stratford are now taking measures into their own hands, making sure nothing like this happens again.

Steven Apatow is a rescue swimmer and runs a nonprofit to tackle emergency management issues across the country. He and his son installed life jackets and a throw bag at the dock, hoping to help prevent future tragedies.
