FORT SMITH -- A 32-year-old man was arrested Aug. 6 in connection with an armed robbery that occurred less than 30 minutes before his arrest.

Brian L. Thompson, listed as homeless in Fort Smith, was arrested in connection with armed aggravated robbery and booked into the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center about 7 p.m. that day, according to the jail roster.

He remained in custody Thursday on $16,115 bond, according to detention center records.

At 6:45 p.m. Aug. 6, the Fort Smith Police Department reported its officers responded to the 2300 block of Towson Avenue for a report of an aggravated robbery.

Thompson was subsequently arrested, police confirmed, but the investigation into the crime is ongoing, the department stated in a press release.
