Maricopa County Superior Court rules current public school funding is unconstitutional
A Maricopa County Superior Court judge has ruled that Arizona’s current capital funding system for public schools is unconstitutional and must be reformed.
Judge Dewain Fox on Wednesday in his 114-page decision said many schools lack resources for basic needs including adequate equipment to keep buildings in repair and are even unsafe due to cracks and other deficiencies. Fox said the state has failed to provide funds for legally required improvements, including keeping students safe from shooters invading schools.
