COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) - A shocking video involving South Carolina's only Democratic candidate in the 2026 race for governor has been released, and Democrats are weighing in.

The video shows the Charleston lawyer, Mullins McLeod, being arrested on May 15. The state Democratic party is now calling to suspend his campaign.

McLeod was shown in the video to be screaming while cuffed in a police car, for about an hour. He posted on Facebook Tuesday and Thursday that he will not be suspending his campaign.

"Yesterday I said goodbye to a very comfortable private life, and so hello, world. Here we go …I'm sure that there'll be times in this campaign I'll make mistakes. I'm not a politician, " McLeod said Tuesday.
