LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

U.S. Customs and Border protection says it seized more than 7,000 pieces of fake jewelry in Louisville last week.

Officials said they intercepted a shipment containing more than 7,000 pairs of counterfeit designer earrings on Aug. 6.

The seizure happened when officers inspected a package arriving from Hong Kong destined for a house in Miami.

It was labeled as a “metal necklace” and weighed 56 pounds.

The shipment actually contained 7,319 pairs of earrings bearing unauthorized versions of Van Cleef & Arpels’ federally protected Alhambra design.
