Brooke Henderson has been well off her usual standards this year, but she’s off to a promising start in a return to a happy place.
The Canadian LPGA star was tied for the clubhouse lead at the Portland Classic on Thursday after shooting a 7-under 65 in the morning wave.
Henderson, 27, birdied her first four holes and then three of the last five in a bogey-free round.
“It was a really awesome start, four birdies in a row,” the native of Smiths Falls, Ont. told reporters. “I mean, that’s an ideal start any week, especially here. I love coming back to this place. I do have a lot of the great memories. A lot of good things happened to me here.
