SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) - South Carolina firefighters are collecting aluminum cans to donate money for the South Carolina Burned Children's Fund.

The money helps send burn victims, ages 6 to 17, to an overnight summer camp for free.

Lucas Parra is a burn survivor and attended Camp 'Can' Do the year after he was burned.

"When I was in first grade, around when I was six years old, I was in the kitchen on a really old stool, and I fell backwards and knocked over a pot of boiling water," Parra said.

The water seeped into the sweatshirt he was wearing and caused first and third-degree burns on his face and arm.

Parra said he was treated at the Medical University of South Carolina Burn Center in Charleston.
