Poll finds voters against getting rid of independent redistricting commission 

California Gov. Gavin Newsom wants to hold a special election in November to have voters approve a new partisan Congressional map.

But a new poll shows that California voters will not be so quick to support Newsom’s plan.

The big picture: A new poll from Politico-Citrin Center-Possibility Lab found that nearly two-thirds of voters support keeping the California Citizens Redistricting Commission. • On the other hand, 36% of respondents would like to see redistricting return to the purview of the Legislature.
