AUGUSTA — According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, Vacationland has been drier than normal for more than four weeks.
The Maine Center for Disease Control says only a handful of communities in the state currently have water conservation concerns.
Drinking Water Program Manager for the Maine CDC Amy LaChance said even when levels are low in these communities, residents who rely on public water shouldn’t worry.
“It’s not a water quality issue. The water is still safe to drink. It just becomes a matter of conserving the water so that there’s enough water for the uses. And of course we want to conserve it for things like drinking,” LaChance said.
