ST. PAUL — Sen. Tou Xiong, a Democrat from Maplewood, was arrested on suspicion of DWI in the early morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 14.
Xiong, 35, has now been arrested on suspicion of DWI twice while serving in the Legislature — he pleaded guilty to his first DWI in April of 2022 when he served in the House. In a statement Thursday afternoon, Xiong said he takes “full responsibility” and apologized to his constituents.
“While driving home after attending a family gathering, I was pulled over near my home and was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated,” he said. “I take full responsibility for my actions, and sincerely apologize to my constituents and the people I’ve let down.
