CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - An arrest has been made in connection with an early morning house fire in Champaign Thursday morning.

The Champaign Fire Department was called to a vacant home in the 4800 block of W. Windsor Rd. at 6:50 a.m. Aug. 14, after neighbors called to report a house on fire.

Smoke and fire came from the house when first responders arrived, and firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

During the investigation, the Champaign Police Department told WAND News that officers spoke with Cody Robinson, 30, of Champaign, who admitted to starting the fire.

CPD also told WAND that Robinson was arrested on an initial charge of residential arson.
