PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - At least one person has died in Multnomah County as a result of the heatwave this week, the Medical Examiner’s Office said on Thursday.

Authorities are investigating the death of a 59-year-old man, who they believe died from a heat-related illness, the ME said.

His body was found in or near Rockwood on Wednesday.

The ME said the cause of death is not confirmed, which will require further tests.

No further information is being released about the man’s death at this time.

According to a report from the county health department, last year, 18 people were hospitalized for heat-related illness and four people died.
