RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - An 83-year-old doctor facing two charges related to an alleged sexual assault has been granted a $2,500 bond.

Dr. Frank Ramsey of North Chesterfield was also placed under house arrest and is prohibited from practicing medicine.

Police say the assault happened at 2:22 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 at Chippenham Hospital.

“Officers spoke to an adult female, who stated she was sexually assaulted by a known adult male while in the hospital,” police said on Tuesday.

Ramsey was charged with misdemeanor assault and a felony charge of object sexual penetration.

Ramsey was well-known for his ER work at Chippenham Hospital and began to do work there in 1984, according to the Richmond Times Dispatch. He retired in April 2022.
