LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Leesville Wampus Cats are heading into the 2025 campaign without their former star running back, Xavier Ford, a major loss for the program, but Head Coach Robert Causey said the team isn’t dwelling on what’s gone. Instead, it’s all about the future.

“No different than any other year that we have. It’s somebody that’s a good ball player — it’s just next man up. That has to be your approach with everything,” Causey said. “When you lose a large senior class like we did last year, with so many kids that had playing time, the standard is the standard. Next guy up, now it’s your time to set the tone, for you to go and make memories.”
