JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- A small airplane made an emergency landing Thursday in the south suburbs.
The landing happened around 5:14 p.m. near McDonough Street and Infantry Drive in Joliet, police said.

A single-engine Piper PA-18 Super Cub aircraft had an apparent malfunction before landing in a grassy area near the Inwood Golf Course, Joliet police said.
The plane was carrying a promotional banner that was released before the emergency landing, police said. It was found nearby in the 2600 block of West Jefferson Street.
No injuries were reported.
Authorities, including the FAA and NTSB, are investigating the incident.
