Two-time U.S. Open singles champion Venus Williams earned a wildcard into the main draw, giving fans an opportunity to see the 45-year-old legend at least one more time on the biggest of stages.
Williams will be the oldest singles entrant at the tournament since Renee Richards (47) in 1981, according to the International Tennis Federation.
The seven-time Grand Slam singles champion last month become the oldest player to win a WTA singles match in more than two decades when she defeated former NCAA singles champ Peyton Stearns at the Mubadala Citi DC Open.
Williams also competed this week in Cincinnati, losing to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in straight sets.
