ELK GROVE, Calif. —

A Sacramento County student tested positive for active tuberculosis on Thursday, according to the public health department.

The student attends Monterey Trail High School, which had its first day of school on Thursday.

Sacramento County Public Health officials said the student was isolated at home, and they are expected to fully recover.

However, health officials noted that the student was believed to have been exposed to tuberculosis sometime between April 11 and July 17.

Officials said the Elk Grove Unified School District is working to send an exposure notification letter to anyone who may have had close contact with the student.
