RUSK, Texas — Multiple agencies are responding after a man was shot in Rusk during what police say was a drug deal gone wrong Thursday night.
Rusk Police Chief Scott Heagney said officers executed a search warrant at 376 Main Street in Rusk in connection with a shooting. But the suspect, who has not been identified yet, was not found there ultimately.
Heagney said the shooting appears to be a "drug deal gone bad." The shooting happened around 2:30 p.m. The victim went into a Jacksonville hospital with a gunshot wound.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team cleared the scene.
