NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The mother and father charged in the shooting death of their 6-year-old son appeared in court on Thursday.

Karen Argueta-Salgado, 28, and Fredy Martinez, 37, appeared in court for charges not related to their son’s death in South Nashville last week.

Argueta-Salgado and Martinez are charged with criminal homicide in the death of their 6-year-old son Cyprien Romero.

Both parents say they were outside when Cyprien accidentally shot himself while inside a motel room on Metroplex Drive on August 8.
