ENFIELD, Conn — The Enfield police chief does not have a K9 companion on the job, but it looked that way as a small robot canine walked with him out of the department Thursday afternoon.

From a distance, it appears too small to be a German Shepherd or Belgian Malinois. As it gets closer, it's too skinny to be any kind of dog, but it walks like one.

It's "Rico," the department's new canine drone, or dog-looking robot in other words. A small head with a camera is the only appendage that is truly different from an actual dog aside from the wires and metal; all the joints perform just like a dog's and then some.

Besides walking, it can sprint, sit, jump, walk on two legs and do a handstand.
