Despite having two of his own and the potential for another, Denzel Washington isn’t concerned with the Academy Awards .

The actor, whose Spike Lee joint Highest 2 Lowest premieres Aug. 15 in theaters and Aug. 22 on Apple TV+ , recently admitted he’s “not that interested in Oscars ” after a nearly 50-year screen and stage career.

“I’ve been at this a long time, and there’s times when I’ve won, shouldn’t have won, didn’t win, should have won,” he said on Jake’s Takes . “Man gives the award, God gives the award. I’m not that interested in Oscars. People say, ‘Well, where do you keep it?’ I say, ‘Next to the other one.'”

Washington added, “I’m not bragging. I’m just telling you how I feel about it. On my last day, it ain’t going to do me a bit of good.”
