MISSOULA — The last time the Montana Grizzly soccer team departed the South Campus Stadium Field after an official game, a tangible layer of dejection covered the grounds.
The Griz had just lost to Sacramento State on penalty kicks in the semifinals of the Big Sky conference tournament Nov. 8, 2024, Montana's first game of the competition after entering as the top overall seed. The Grizzlies worked for a full winter, spring and summer to exorcise those demons of the past, returning Thursday afternoon for their regular-season debut against Southern Utah.
