CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - While the Redhawks scored more goals in a game than they had in more than a year, it wasn’t enough against Evansville.

SEMO lost to the Purple Aces 4-3, Thursday, in a high-scoring back-and-forth battle.

The Redhawks started out strong, with Alli Saviano flicking a ball in and Hayley Hogenmiller getting a touch to chip it toward the net. In the chaos, Evansville’s center back failed to properly clear the ball, allowing junior, and Jackson native, Justi Nelson to send the rebound right into the net for SEMO’s first goal of the season.

Halfway through the first half, Evansville’s Taylor Wehrer streaked down the right wing, scoring to make it 1-1.
