TUCSON, AZ (AZFamily) — A Tucson murder suspect appears to be caught in the middle of a judicial tug-of-war between the federal government and Pima County.
“It’s almost like they are competing with each other,” said Russ Richelsoph, a criminal defense attorney not affiliated with the case.
Arizona’s Family previously reported how 42-year-old Julio Cesar Aguirre , a Mexican national who was in the U.S. illegally, was the prime murder suspect in a case from Tucson.
He was hospitalized after a confrontation with police. But before the county prosecutor could officially charge him with murder, the feds detained him while still in the hospital, creating delays and obstacles for local prosecutors.
