GREEN BAY — Had Jordan Love injured his left thumb during the regular season — and not in the preseason opener, as he did last Saturday on his final snap against the New York Jets — then the Green Bay Packers quarterback would not have undergone surgery to fix the torn ligament he’d suffered.
Instead, he would have kept playing.
But with the team’s medical staff having told him his non-throwing hand would have ample time to heal before the Sept. 7 regular-season opener against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field, Love chose to have the minimally-invasive surgery on Tuesday in Los Angeles to keep the injury from being an issue all season long.
