The Toppenish Police Department has identified the victim in a recent homicide as a 22-year-old male from Toppenish.

The man sustained multiple gunshot and stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by officers and medics, police said in a release .

Investigators said the suspect, a 48-year-old male from Granger, was caught following a brief vehicle chase by multiple law enforcement agencies including the Yakima County Sheriff's Office and the FBI.

The investigation also uncovered a related homicide in Granger, being handled by the Yakima County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators believe the suspect is involved in both murders. He is now booked at the Yakima County Jail for first-degree murder.
