RICHLAND, Wash. – The Richland School Board is working to finalize its budget as the new school year approaches and aims to regain financial stability.
In preparation for the upcoming school year, the board has decided to pause the hiring of several positions. The school year is set to begin in just a couple of weeks on August 26.
The district expressed concerns about the balance between staff numbers and student attendance. They noted that schools receive funding based on attendance, which has become a concern as staff numbers may be outgrowing the student body.
A meeting is scheduled for administrators and board members to discuss and prioritize which positions are most essential. With the first day of school fast approaching, the urgency to finalize these decisions is increasing.
