INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after a person was found fatally shot early Friday on Indianapolis' east side.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 8400 block of Meadowlark Drive, which is not far from East 42nd Street and North Franklin Road.

An IMPD spokesperson said officers responding to a report of a shooting found a person with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The spokesperson didn't say if investigators had identified a suspect in the case, nor whether a motive had been determined.
