Governor announces homicide rate reduction

Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda announced Wednesday a 35.8 percent reduction in the average daily homicide rate in Baja California over a ten-month period. The decrease, from September 2024 to July 2025, is attributed to a coordinated, comprehensive security strategy involving all three levels of government.

The results were recently presented during President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s press conference, where Baja California was highlighted for its significant progress.

During her own press conference, Gov. Avila Olmeda reiterated these figures, emphasizing that this achievement was made possible by “coordinated, close, and permanent work” along with municipal and federal governments.
