KAPOLEI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Members of Hawaii’s LGBTQ+ community say they’ve made big strides in recent years. But they’re now concerned and alarmed that many of those strides are being walked back.

“Every day we wake up and there’s some new threat to our literal existence. And that, to me -- it’s like we’re trapped in a nightmare,” said Andrew Ogata of the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation.

That was the feeling that colored Thursday night’s Rainbow Townhall in Kapolei which was organized by the foundation.

Community members and their allies said their rights are being taken away.
