People currently in Spain or planning to visit the European nation have received an 'extreme danger' warning, as scorching temperatures from a heatwave that started in early August persist.
Spain's national meteorological service AEMET issued a fresh alert on Friday, August 15, declaring there is now a "very high or extreme fire danger in most of the country ".
A statement from AEMET on X, previously known as Twitter, reads: "The danger will remain at very high or extreme levels during the weekend and Monday, days when the heatwave affecting us since the beginning of the month continues."
Thousands of residents have faced evacuation, with the heatwave triggered by a mass of dry, warm air drifting across the nation, coupled with characteristic summe
