OTTAWA - Canada Post and the union representing 55,000 postal workers are returning to negotiations today. This comes two weeks after members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers voted against the latest contract offers from the employer.

The two sides have been in discussions for over a year and a half. They met with federal mediators on Tuesday and have additional bargaining sessions scheduled for today and Monday.

In late May, Canada Post presented its most recent proposals, which included wage increases of approximately 13 percent over four years and plans to restructure the workforce to incorporate more part-time positions.

Canada Post expressed its anticipation for a detailed response from the union that would address the growing challenges faced by the postal service. Meanwhile, the union continues to enforce a national ban on overtime work, which adds pressure to the ongoing negotiations.
