GORHAM, N.H. , Maine (WABI) - A Maine firefighter faces an arson charge in connection with a fire that killed two pets inside his New Hampshire home.

Travis Davis was arrested Friday, Aug. 8, more than a week after the July 29 house fire on Second Street in Gorham, New Hampshire, according to police.

Our media partner, WMTW, confirmed Davis is a deputy chief with the Gilead Volunteer Fire Department in Oxford County, Maine.

Gilead Fire Chief Randall Grondin said Davis has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest. Davis has been with the department for about two years, according to Grondin.

The Gorham Police Department said no people were injured by the fire, but two pet turtles died.
