Local reports report hearing a deafening bang in parts of Cambridgeshire , Suffolk , and Essex on Friday morning (August 15). A Littleport resident described her house trembling with the huge force of the sound heard at around 11.37am, which apparently sounded like an explosion.

Locals also reported hearing an extremely loud bang in Chatteris, as well as in parts of Essex. The RAF has confirmed that its quick reaction alert (QRA) aircraft were launched on Friday morning.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence commented: "As this is an ongoing mission, no additional details will be offered until complete."
