Last year, in a region known for its dog-friendliness, the largest/most populous city in San Mateo County became acutely aware that it was one of the few places in the area that didn’t host a dog-centered event.
“We have a very active dog community, and it’s a very popular thing in cities to have some kind of dog event, so we thought we should join in on the festivities,” Parks and Recreation Director Joanne Magrini said.
Last summer’s first annual Central Bark event was a success, prompting staff to continue expanding on the festivities. The fundraising event takes place in the city’s Central Park, with proceeds going to the nonprofit PAL, and features food trucks, Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company, vendor and photo booths, kid-friendly activities — and of course, lots of dogs.
