SARTELL, Minn. (WCCO) - Investigators removed a car from a portion of the Mississippi River in Minnesota on Tuesday.

It’s a car that’s been underwater for nearly 60 years and now provides insight into a disappearance that was never solved.

The investigation underway in Sartell has ties to a decades-old unsolved case.

Investigators spent hours removing the car from the Mississippi River on Tuesday, all thanks to a recent tip.

“When he caught the fish, I turned the transducer around and, ‘Boom!’ There it was just sitting on the bottom,” Brody Loch said.

Loch, a fisherman from Watkins, was using a Garmin Livescope sonar over the weekend.

Loch spotted it for the first time on Saturday before returning on Sunday to check again.
