Apopka High School was briefly placed in a “secure hold” this morning due to a nearby law enforcement incident unrelated to the campus, according to a spokesman with media relations at Orange County Public Schools.

“There was law enforcement activity outside the campus and as a result we put the school on a secure hold,” he said. The hold started around 7:15 a.m. and was lifted by 8 a.m. School activity has since returned to normal operations.

He said during a secure hold everyone on campus remains where they are and no one comes in and out. He could not provide details about the nature of the law enforcement activity.
