LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

The 70.3-mile Ironman triathlon race will be returning to Louisville this weekend.

The triathlon will take place Sunday, Aug. 17.

Athletes will swim 1.2 miles in the Ohio River, bike 56 miles through Oldham County and run 13.1 miles through Louisville.

When and where

The Ironman race starts at 6:55 a.m. with the Pro male swim quickly followed by the pro female swim at 7 a.m.

The swimming portion will take place in the Ohio River, starting at the western edge of Waterfront Park and ending at the Great Lawn.

From there, athletes will bike to Oldham County and loop back downtown.

Lastly, athletes will run through downtown Louisville starting on Witherspoon Street and finishing at Fourth Street Live!
