Higley Unified School District’s satellite career and technical education programs continue to expand and excel, with strong enrollment, high certification rates and new opportunities for students, district officials said.

CTE Assistant Director Craig Pearson said in a presentation to the governing board Aug. 12 the district offers a range of CTE programs at its high schools, including biotechnology, criminal justice, digital photography, early childhood education, engineering, marketing, software development, sports medicine and technical theater.

Students also participate in classes through the East Valley Institute of Technology.

Higley has 2,575 student seats filled this year in district CTE classes, plus 455 students at central campuses, reflecting a 4% growth in satellite programs
