UK drivers have been warned to "take every precaution" to avoid being stranded at the side of the road during the heatwave.

The country is currently gripped by hot weather as the fourth heatwave of the year has hit the UK, with temperatures surpassing 30C.

According to the Met Office, this weekend is expected to be dry and sunny for most parts of the UK at around 30C on Saturday and 29C on Sunday in south-west England.

Now, experts at the RAC have warned people to be careful of the impact of the heat on our cars as hot tyres failing have sparked a surge in vehicle breakdowns as high temperatures continue.

The RAC said it has received 10% more callouts between Monday and Thursday this week compared with the same period last week.
