The Monroe County Sheriff's Office 's investigation into the Frenchtown Township Red Lobster fire has been closed.
"It was determined that there was no criminal involvement and the investigation was turned over to the fire investigator of the insurance company," said Detective Sgt. Leland Jordan.
According to the police report, there was an alarm set on June 8 at 9:38 p.m. that was disarmed at 12:39 a.m. on June 9, by the master code. It was rearmed an hour later and the first smoke alarm activated that morning at 2:06 a.m.
It was later confirmed by Jeremy Berard, the fire investigator for Red Lobster's insurance company, that the alarm deactivation and reactivation, which was thought to be suspicious, was done by a contractor hired to clean the kitchen hoods.
