Central Hudson's three-year rate increase plan was approved by the New York Public Service Commission.

Central Hudson called the rate increases "modest" for an average customer, while low-income households will see rate decreases.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said the increases are still too much for customers.

Central Hudson Gas & Electric announced on Aug. 14 a three-year rate increase plan will be implemented starting Sept. 1 for some ratepayers.

The New York Public Service Commission approved the rate increase, which Central Hudson said in a statement is "modest" for many of their customers, while providing savings for low-income households.
