Red Hook residents will soon finally be able to swim in their neighborhood’s outdoor public pool this summer following necessary repairs, according to New York City parks officials.

The Olympic-sized pool has been closed since late June, when officials said a water line broke as workers were filling the pool at the start of outdoor swimming season. The pool is now planned to reopen Sunday, less than a month before the season ends on Sept. 7.

While the pool was being fixed, officials recommended residents use outdoor swimming pools in Sunset Park and Gowanus as alternatives, which are both a mile or more away.
