PONTIAC, Ill. (WMBD) -- One person is dead and three people were taken to the hospital in Livingston County after a crash on Interstate 55.

At approximately 4:50 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, Illinois State Police Troop 5 was called to a two-vehicle crash, said ISP Trooper Jayme Bufford.

She also said the crash was on I-55 southbound at milepost 195 in Pontiac.

One person was confirmed dead at the scene of the crash, Bufford said. Two passengers were airlifted to a regional hospital, and one other passenger was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

There were no further details about the extent of injuries.

Bufford said all southbound lanes were shut down at the time and reopened at 9 a.m.
